To investigate the resolution capacity and best methodology for close range terrestrial laser scanning of mosaics in the field (like the Byzantine mosaic floor we had previously scanned at Petra), I built a CISA3 mosaic out of different types of tiles (to also investigate refraction issues AND give Vid some fun textures to play with in his viz software). With the help of my mummy dearest who happened to be visiting during summer construction fun, we laid out the mosaic in sections, scanning in between additions and grouting to provide a time lapse data set to our colleague David Srour for our temporal point cloud visualization project that expanded out of Sandcastles for Science and was presented at Marseilles.
