This week I went a bit excitingly over-board 3D printing some of my favorite creative commons pieces museums have submitted to Thingiverse. And then I had a bit of technicolor fun with them.

Here are the resulting creations thus far:

T-Rex fossil skull epaulettes, re-mixed from this Curriculum model.

And my current golden opus: a slanted necklace featuring archaeo-charms from the open access models of the following:

Horus and the Amphora from the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Venus di Milo from the amazing 3D printing master Cosmos Wenman, Totem Pole from TheTribester, Athena Bust from 3DWP, Zeus Bust from The New Hobbyist, The Lamassu from The Aminimal Studio, The Pyramid of Kukulcan at Chichen Itza from Gian Pablo Villamil, and Skull from MacGyver.

There aren’t many archaeological objects on the 3D printing sharing sites. Yet.

The collection represents a solid sampling of the archaeological museum artifacts available online.

Hopefully one day there will be many, many more. x
